Roses, Birdies, Peanuts & Cheese
Throughout the year we raise money by selling various items. Peanut Day is a Kiwanis International staple. Often, when asked about Kiwanis, a non-member will reply, "yeah, you're the peanut club." In addition to selling peanuts, our Pancake Day is a breakfast served in conjunction with Jordan Builders Club. Rose Day is held on Administrative Assistants Day. Roses are available for pick-up and delivery making smile creation easy. Cheese sales are one of the legacies of the late Tom Plechaty. Tom was our “cheese wiz” and he knew cheese at the holiday not only tasted great, but was an excellent gift to friends and/or clients, or to take to a party. Don’t miss your cheese next year! On behalf of the club, Tom sells cheese and meats in individual and assortment packages during the holidays. Great for gifts or to take to a party.
For a few years now, the Rock Island Kiwanis Club has sponsored a dozen roses for each resident in the nursing homes in Rock Island. Smiles galore with petals and blooms made hundreds of people happy. If you'd like to help brighten peoples' days, then you need to buy roses from the Kiwanis Club of Rock Island.
